Before a new tenant gets their keys, a lot must happen behind the scenes to make that moment possible.

For Allie, a Maintenance Worker based in Caldwell, preparing homes for move-in is more than a task list — it’s a specialized part of the job. That focus helps reduce the amount of time a home remains empty and allows new tenants to settle in without delays.

“All I want is for someone to walk in on move-in day and feel good about their new place,” Allie says. “A smooth start makes a big difference.”

Working across multiple units, Allie ensures each space is clean, functional, and move-in ready. She:

  • Completes drywall, plumbing, and electrical repairs
  • Installs countertops and sinks and
  • verifies everything is working before keys are handed over

By having Maintenance Workers who specialize in move-ins, OCH can prepare homes more efficiently while other team members focus on in-suite service requests and ongoing repairs.

How residents can help when a Maintenance Worker visits:

  • Make the area accessible before the visit (clear space around sinks, outlets, etc.)
  • Report issues early and share key details, including when they started and what you’ve noticed
